July 24, 2002 (Holland, MI) For many years, Holland has supplied the airlines and ground support equipment segments of the transportation industry with a variety of pintle hook/drawbar and coupler/drawbar systems. They are now announcing a significant expansion of their coupling system product offering. This includes three new patented SAE rated couplers in the E-Hitch configuration and two new drawbars. They are most commonly used in airport ground support baggage applications.
The E-Hitches are SAE rated as follows: EH-20, rated at 20,000 lb. maximum gross trailer weight (GTW), the EH-40, rated at 40,000 lbs. GTW and EH-60, rated at 60,000 lbs. GTW. The drawbars are the DB-020FK1, universal weld-on drawbar ring, rated at 20,000 lbs. GTW and the DB-010EJ1 shank mount weld-on model, rated at 10,000 lbs. GTW.
The E-Hitch frames are built from durable ductile iron castings (see attached photo). The spring loaded tow pin for the EH-20 is made from 1” ASTM A36 carbon steel for years of dependable service. The EH-40 and EH-60 pins are made from 8630 steel and is heat treated for added durability. The galvanized conical spring provides years of dependable service and an even consistent pull effort.
The compact frame design reduces mounting issues and is available with a 4 bolt mounting for easy bolt-on mounting. These E-Hitch models are available with an easy pull-up handle or remote release for versatility and easy coupling and uncoupling. The multi-function pull-up handle offers one-hand operation. The frame assembly is flared at the drawbar receiving location to guide the drawbar into the receiver.
The DB-020FK1 drawbar ring is made from C-1035 steel. It has a 3” I.D. and 1.62” dia. section and can be readily welded to a rectangular tube or bar without preheating. The DB-010EJ1 is made from 1035 forged steel with 3” I.D. and 1” dia. section. It can be easily welded to a 2” x 4” structural tube without any additional fabrication to the tube.
